Fran
& I got our first German Shepherd in 1958. In
our early years, we had other breeds, but we seemed to favor large
breeds. Having
had Boxers, Danes and Corgis and loved Dobes, but never owned one. In
those days, Fran worked long hours in sales managing furniture stores.
He worked most of the time from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., and on Sundays noon to 5 p.m. Both
of us have served on the board of directors of the German Shepherd Dog
Club of America, but our main interest has and is breeding and showing
the dogs, and Fran of course, judging. We
moved to Grove City, where we still reside in June of 1962, where we
would have 2 acres and room to raise German Shepherds. The grounds here
are flat, and all are usable, plus entirely fenced chain linked. We
were both born and raised in Columbus, Ohio, and Grove City is more or
less a suburb. Since
Fran’s retirement, we have been able
